variation in exercise

i’ve been hoping to vary the exercise i do as much as possible.  it’s kind of crappy at first because heavy resistance stuff doesn’t seem to hurt as much as pyramids (which kill the day after), so i don’t immediately feel as if it’s doing a good job for me.  however i’m happy to mix it up so my muscles get used to a variety of weights and tempos and they’re stronger overall, rather than being used to a specific form of exercise.

also, i’ve been hoping to pick up a supplementary form of exercise like simple body weight driven exercises (pushups, widegrip pullups, leg lifts etc.) so i can get a more varied workout.  i just don’t want to start cardio until i’ve packed on some weight, ’cause i know it’d be really hard to build up more bulk if i started running or swimming or what have you.  i’m really looking forward to being able to run, though, because of the benefits to leg definition that it’d give.  also, i’d be able to run faster and longer.  nice.
